Robert Duncan has kindly put together (Courtesy of SPSS) a version of PC
Poplog version 15.53, which I believe is identical with the version used
in Clementine in NT, except that proprietary bits that make the X
graphics work under NT that come as part of a product called NuTcracker
have been removed.

So although the Poplog X source files are there, I believe that anyone
who is interested in trying to make it work with an X emulation package
will need to create:

> * X header files for compiling
> * X import libraries for linking
> * X DLLs for running

I was previously told that in the NT Poplog system used for Clementine

> The build procedure assumes the NuTCRACKER
> environment in terms of environment variables, #defines, etc., and
> SPSS even
> use one or two of their special functions in some places, so moving to a
> different X environment would mean dealing with all those cases.

So minimally what we have is a more up to date version of PC Poplog,
and a possible launch pad for a PC expert who knows of a suitable
free or cheap X emulation package for windows/NT to make Poplog work
with it. ( I believe there is at least one, but I can't remember what
it is called.)

Try www.google.com with the keywords
    X window system NT

and
    http://www.rahul.net/kenton/xsites.html

I don't know enough about Microsoft programming environments even to
begin thinking about this.

For now I have installed the new version in this 13Mbyte zip file:

    http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/research/poplog/winpop/pop15-53.zip
    ftp://ftp.cs.bham.ac.uk/pub/dist/poplog/winpop/pop15-53.zip

For anyone who wants to browse specific parts of it, I have unzipped
it in here:

    http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/research/poplog/winpop/pop15-53/
    ftp://ftp.cs.bham.ac.uk/pub/dist/poplog/winpop/pop15-53/

That's about 40 Mbytes:

I have not tried running this system.

If anyone does try it, please report your experiences.

If anyone would like me to split the zip file into smaller pieces
to make it easier to fetch over slow unreliable lines, let me know.
