I previously wrote

However, I have now looked more closely both at what Alan Littleford
wrote, and at the files created by gunzip and tar x on the unix
system.
I now think that this is what he meant:
Each directory DISKN should have an empty file called DISKN.ID
(tar creates these but apparently Winzip doesn't).
So presumably what he meant is that in each directory you have to
create an empty file of the form diskn.id
E.g. in disk2, create disk2.id with no contents.
That's 10 empty files. If anyone tries this, please post a message
saying whether it works.
I'll provisionally revise the installation instructions.
