To run Poplog it is no longer necessary to go back to 5.2, The very
latest version of linux poplog runs on RedHat 6.0.

I have not tried it myself, but I've had confirmation that it works
from someone who has.

You can fetch it from:

ftp://ftp.cs.bham.ac.uk/pub/dist/poplog/new/linux1553.tar.gz
    For linux without motif

ftp://ftp.cs.bham.ac.uk/pub/dist/poplog/new/linuxmotif1553.tar.gz
    For linux with motif

Both of these tar files now have the full core-system sources in the
    $usepop/pop/src/
    $usepop/pop/ved/src
directories.

Installation instructions and copyright notice are in

    ftp://ftp.cs.bham.ac.uk/pub/dist/poplog/new/install.txt

(A slightly older version is included in the tar.gz files).

I don't know whether the "motif" version works with "lesstif". If
anyone tries it, please post the outcome.

Thanks.
Aaron
