Subject:Accumulated PLUG (Poplog User Group) subscriptions
From:Aaron Sloman

I have obtained the following information with the help of Barclays
Bank.

People who have been paying subscriptions to PLUG by standing order
(#10 p.a.) have had them sent to the LEWES branch of Barclays Bank
(apparently a subsidiary of the Eastbourne branch) Sort code 20-49-76
(or 20-27-91) at account number 10702080

Apparently no money has been taken from the account for a very long
time. They would not tell me how much was left in the account, though I
expect it is not a huge amount.

I wonder whether anyone on this email list is still a member of the
last functional PLUG committee and authorised to access the account?

Likely candidates are Ian Rogers, Roger Evans, Steve Leach (Knight),
and maybe someone from ISL.

The question arises: what should now be done with the accumulated
surplus. I don't like the idea of Barclays having it forever.

Perhaps it could go to some charity (Oxfam?) or if there is enough, it
could be used to pay a student at Sussex to set up an FTP server from
which academics (identified by domain name) could fetch poplog free, if
ISL and Sussex agree.
