I wonder how many people have discovered what I've only noticed for
the first time: i.e. you can now (V14.2) represent the escape character
in strings using \e, instead of having to use \^[
E.g.
datalist('\e\^[') =>
** [27 27]
I found this in REF ITEMISE.

Note to Poplog developers: HELP ASCII should probably be merged
with REF ITEMISE so that it is kept up to date. REF STRINGS should have
a line saying something like
For information regarding the external representation of strings,
including non-printing characters, see REF * ITEMISE/'A string'
Users might be well advised to ask their local Poplog manager to edit
current versions of REF STRINGS (and perhaps HELP STRINGS) to include
this cross reference.
