Subject:sys_lock_system

I'm having trouble with the function sys_lock_system. I get an error
message

;;; MISHAP - sys_lock_system: CALLS OF writeable HAVE BEEN IGNORED
(pop_record
;;; _writeable not set true)
;;; DOING : pop_setpop_compiler

no matter what I do. In particular, if I start up poplog 15.53, set
true->pop_record_writeable and then call the function, I get the error
message. I've tried it both under solaris on a Sparc Ultra and RedHat
6.0 on a pc. These systems work fine in all other respects that I am
aware of, so perhaps I am just doing something silly, but HELP *
SYS_LOCK_SYSTEM doesn't mention anything other than the
pop_record_writeable variable as possible reason for the function to
fail.

Thanks for any advice.

p.s. Apologies if this has been dealt with before. I did try to search
the popforum archives at http://www.poplog.org/search/, but was told

Welcome to the Bel EPA HTTPD server admin section
                    Bel EPA Secure Server Administration
The server has been explicitly prohibited from making this resource
                                 available.

That "welcome" is a nice touch. What is the server there for if it is
explicitly prohibited from giving out information?
