Apologies I was being sloppy: I meant Redhat 4.2. (I am not a linux
user -- yet, as the suns on my desk at home and in the office
work fine.)

He is the real hero of Poplog -- e.g. extremely fast garbage
collector, and incremental compiler, and chief architect of the
Poplog virtual machine, external language interface, porting
mechanisms, and many other things, although many other people
contributed important ideas, starting with Robin Popplestone many
