Subject:Improved image capture tool for poplog demos

Many thanks to those who responded with suggestions for improving
the poplog videos.

Matthias Scheutz is visiting and he pointed me at this wonderful
free, open source, tool that works on linux:

	http://xvidcap.sourceforge.net/

There are two excellent video tutorials showing how to use it here
	http://xvidcap.sourceforge.net/#xvidcap_live:

I got the source package, ran configure with the option to include
ffmpeg,

	./configure --with-forced-embedded-ffmpeg

then 'make', 'make install', and it just worked (on my redhat 8 system
at home).

If you start it off with a file name ending in .mpeg

	xvidcap --file sheep.mpeg

Then when you tell it to start recording, it just makes the mpeg
file in the fly. You can adjust required quality, frame rate,
compression, etc. etc. You can select the portion of the screen to
be captured. You can tell it to capture mouse movements for demos,
etc. etc.

I'll put up some compressed movies shortly.

You can also use it with audio, so you can make superb online
tutorials.

Maybe one day someone will use it to make a tutorial on how to use
ved....., how to program in in pop11, how to ....

It's amazing. And totally free.

Cheers.
