I am "Mr. Hartman" (or Richard).  "Mr. Knight" was a programmer
referred to by the person to whom I was replying & not involved
in this discussion.

I see little difference between the C++ new/delete and the
C malloc()/free().  Of course, I have also been using my
own versions of the C++ constructor & destructor functions
for my dynamically allocated structs (isolating those those
finicky bits that give you the jitters) for a long time.
