Just a thought - an alternative might be to rename the pop-forum
mailing list. This wouldn't affect anyone for receiving messages,
and would not be much of a problem for people wishing to post to
it - particularly if most posts go via comp.lang.pop anyway.
I'm not advocating this - restricting a mailing list to members only
seems a reasonable anti-spam strategy; I'm just pointing out that
the name is not the thing, and the pop-forum mailing list could
just as easily be called the popforum mailing list. [Or it could
even be called a rose.]
