The version of Poplog available from my directory on
http://www.debian.org/~bfulgham/poplog
will only run on current 'testing' or 'unstable' versions of Debian.
It uses the latest binary
poplog from the bham site, which is linked against the current GNU C
library (which is why
the package manager is complaining to you about needing libc6 2.3).
I imagine you are running an older version of Debian (e.g., woody
'stable'); I'm
afraid the package will not work for you. Your only option would be
to update
your Debian installation to 'testing'. Don't let the name frighten
you too much -- the
current testing distribution has been around for a year now, and will
be released as
the new 'stable' version of Debian "any day now".
Ordinarily we could use the source build information at
http://www.debian.org/~bfulgham/poplog
to build a woody version of Poplog for you to use. However, because
Poplog requires a somewhat
complex bootstrap process, the Debian packages are not strictly built
from "source", and
actually use the libc6 2.3 binaries Aaron provides from his site.
Consequently, it's not
possible to take the source package and build a 'woody' version. I'm
not sure how difficult
it would be to create a libc6 2.2 release.
To make matters worse, we can't really take an older tarball from the
bham site because I spent
considerable time moving directories around and manually adjusting
things to fit into Debian's
file system hierarchy (really, the new Linux File System Standard) and
I don't have the time to
do the same for backwards-compatibility.
Thanks,
