I seem to recall that everything worked once I had installed
Openmotif.
If after installing openmotif, you install poplog linked for motif
and then when you start running it, e.g. by doing:
$popsys/basepop11
you get an error message about not finding a motif library, you
may find that making a single symbolic link, from the motif .so file
to the one poplog is looking for, suffices to fix the problem.
But perhaps someone who has installed both more recently can be more
specific!
