i don't see much criticism being levelled at emacs use of the gnu info
system for its own documentation (which covers things other than emacs
of course). fsf are making the assumption that everyone will be using
emacs to read the online help.
shouldn't all this be part of an emacs poplog documentation mode?
surely the onus is on the emacs users to customise their own
programmable editor to cope with poplog's documentation, rather than
poplog being limited by emacs' failings?
again, i'm with adrian over the proper editor interface, and the
separation of ved and poplog. if this were to be undertaken, then would
be the time of addressing the needs of other popular editors (emacs and
errr ...).
